The moon 🌜🙌🏼

The Moon is slowly drifting away from us, about 3.8 cm, or about 1.5in, per year, which means that, in 600 million years, a total solar eclipse will no longer be possible.

The reason it’s drifting away is basically the tides. The Moon is slowly escaping because it’s stealing a tiny bit of Earth’s rotational energy every day.
It’s like the world’s slowest, most polite breakup.

In this picture, the Moon is captured in its waxing gibbous phase, glowing vividly against the black canvas of space. The illumination reveals a wealth of surface detail, from jagged craters to vast lunar plains.

Prominently visible are several major features: Mare Imbrium (Sea of Showers) in the northwest, Mare Serenitatis (Sea of Serenity) just southeast of it, and Mare Tranquilitatis (Sea of Tranquility) further east, the historic Apollo 11 landing site.

These dark, basaltic plains formed from ancient volcanic activity, and contrast sharply with the brighter highlands. Surrounding them are notable craters, like Copernicus, with its dramatic rays, Tycho near the southern region with its bright splash pattern, and Plato, nestled near Mare Imbrium.

The interplay of light and shadow across these features gives the Moon a textured, almost tactile appearance, showcasing its complex geological history and making this phase ideal for lunar observation.

Christmas in Antwerp.

🎄 Antwerp lit up the night with music, laughter and holiday magic ✨

In the heart of the Grote Markt, nestled among centuries-old facades and cobblestone charm, a glowing beacon of celebration emerged, the Joe Christmas House. This vibrant radio shack, wrapped in neon warmth and festive sparkle, transformed the square into a living postcard of winter joy. Crowds gathered beneath the twinkling canopy, drawn by the pulse of good tunes and the promise of shared moments. The energy was electric, the mood unmistakably merry.

As a photographer, I’m always chasing the soul of a city, and here, Antwerp gave it freely. The contrast between modern lightplay and historic architecture created a visual rhythm that begged to be captured. Reflections danced on glass panels, while the signage pulsed with color and cheer. The Dutch phrase “Ook op het Operaplein en Hendrik Conscienceplein” hinted at the wider reach of this celebration, but it was here, in the Grote Markt, that the spirit felt most alive.

This shot is more than a festive scene, it’s a tribute to urban storytelling. Cityscapes aren’t just buildings, they’re stages for human connection. And during the holidays, they become theaters of light and emotion. I framed this moment to highlight the interplay between crowd movement, architectural lines and the glowing centerpiece of the broadcast shack. No filters, no enhancements, just the raw pulse of a city in celebration.

If you’re wandering through Antwerp this season, let the lights guide you. Let the music pull you in. And if you’re behind the lens, don’t just shoot what you see, capture what you feel.

✨ Antwerp’s winter magic, captured in a single frame ✨

The heart of the city glows with festive warmth as the Christmas-Winter market transforms Groenplaats into a wonderland of light, laughter and local charm. This photo, taken on a crisp December evening, invites you into the cosy bustle of Antwerp’s seasonal celebration. The wooden stalls stand proudly beneath twinkling string lights and lush garlands, offering handmade treasures and winter accessories to passersby. In front of it, a luminous crescent moon sculpture swirls with ornate patterns, casting a soft golden glow that draws the eye and stirs the imagination 🌙

The scene is alive with movement and joy, as people browse, chat and soak in the festive atmosphere. Behind the stall, familiar signs like “Leonidas” and “Stella Artois” anchor the moment in the city’s iconic landscape, while the trees shimmer with fairy lights that dance in the night air. This isn’t just a market, it’s a living canvas of community, tradition and seasonal spirit.

As a photographer focused on landscapes and cityscapes, I’m always chasing the interplay between architecture, light and emotion. This shot is a celebration of that pursuit, blending urban texture with holiday enchantment. The composition balances warmth and whimsy, with the moon sculpture acting as a visual anchor that invites viewers to pause and feel the moment. No filters, no enhancements, just the raw beauty of Antwerp in December.

Whether you’re strolling through the market with loved ones or admiring from afar, this image is a reminder of how cities come alive when people gather, lights glow and stories unfold. Let it transport you to a place where winter feels magical and every corner holds a little surprise 🎁

There’s a quiet poetry in the alleyways of Huinnyeoul Cultural Village, and this image captures one of those moments where time seems to pause. Nestled in the heart of Busan, South Korea, this narrow path winds upward between tightly packed homes, each wall painted with character and history. Shot through a yellow filter, the warm tones bring out the nostalgic charm of the scene, casting a golden hue over the bricks, wires, and faded colours that define this vibrant neighbourhood. 🌇

I took this photo while exploring Huinnyeoul, a place where art and everyday life blend seamlessly. The textures here are rich, from the weathered red bricks to the turquoise and beige facades, and the small potted tree tucked along the edge adds a touch of nature to the urban rhythm. The alley leads to a taller building under renovation, hinting at the ever-changing layers of the city. It’s a space that feels lived in, loved, and quietly cinematic. 🎞️

This image is part of my ongoing journey into landscape and cityscape photography, where I seek out places that tell stories through architecture, light, and atmosphere. Huinnyeoul is a treasure for photographers, with its maze-like streets, coastal views, and artistic spirit. If you want to see more from this day, I filmed a vlog video while I was here, capturing the sights, sounds, and soul of the village. The link to this YouTube video is in my bio 🎥

Photography for me is about finding beauty in the overlooked, and this alleyway is a perfect example. It’s not grand or flashy, but it holds a quiet strength, a sense of place that resonates deeply. The yellow filter added warmth not just to the colours, but to the emotion of the scene, making it feel timeless and intimate.

Huinnyeoul Cultural Village Pt. 1

A coastal symphony in golden tones 🌇✨
This frame from Huinnyeoul Cultural Village in Busan captures a layered story of contrast and connection. In the foreground, rugged stones and pebbles line the shore, raw, textured, and grounding. The water is calm and glassy, reflecting the soft sky above, while a sweeping bridge stretches across the bay like a ribbon of steel, linking the city’s pulse to its quieter edges.

Beyond the bridge, a skyline of modern high-rises and residential towers rises with quiet authority, softened by the gentle slope of a green hill to the right. The yellow filter adds a nostalgic warmth, bathing the entire scene in a golden hue that feels both cinematic and timeless.
This isn’t just a cityscape, it’s a moment where nature, architecture, and emotion converge.

A monochrome moment where serenity meets skyline

Gwangalli Beach, wrapped in soft curves of sand and gentle waves, stretches into the heart of Busan’s modern pulse. The bridge arcs like a quiet whisper toward the hills, while skyscrapers rise like sentinels of ambition. This black-and-white capture reveals the harmony between nature’s calm and the city’s energy—proof that beauty thrives in contrast.

These photos showcase the evolution of processing photographs taken with a red colour filter. (Scroll to see each individual photo). The photos were taken in Busan, South Korea, with my Sony Alpha camera. There was a red filter in front of the lens.

Because of this, only a narrow band of the visible light spectrum is recorded and was available for processing. Out of the camera, the picture has a heavy red colour cast to it, but with a custom white balance, the colours can, be shifted and expanded into the green and blue channels, creating an interesting colour pallet.

Rugged rocks carved by time, scattered like nature’s own sculpture garden, set against a horizon dotted with cargo ships, quietly threading the sea. A moment of stillness where wild terrain and human ambition share the same frame.

A rock....

This image captures the striking coastal scenery at Oryukdo Skywalk in Busan, South Korea. This photo showcases the vibrant turquoise waters of the ocean as waves crash against rugged rocky outcrops. The partially submerged rocks add a dramatic element to the scene, with the spray from the waves creating a misty, dynamic effect. The horizon merges seamlessly with the hazy sky, enhancing the sense of vastness and natural beauty. The image perfectly highlights the allure of Oryukdo Skywalk, a well-known tourist destination famous for its breathtaking coastal views and thrilling glass-bottomed skywalk that extends over the sea. This stunning snapshot offers a glimpse into the captivating marine landscape that draws visitors from all over the world.

A serene aerial view of Gwangalli Beach in Busan (광안리 해변) on a rainy day, showcasing a beautifully landscaped garden with lush, golden-brown grasses and neatly arranged pathways.

The image captures five individuals walking along the intersecting paths, each holding a black umbrella, creating a striking contrast against the earthy tones of the garden. The geometric layout of the paths and the natural texture of the grasses make this scene visually captivating and a perfect representation of the harmony between nature and urban design.

This photo highlights the peaceful ambiance of Gwangalli Beach, even on a rainy day, making it an ideal spot for a tranquil stroll.

🌆 Just after sunset, as twilight gently embraced the ancient stones of Suwon, I captured this tranquil moment at Hwahongmun, the northern water gate of Hwaseong Fortress in South Korea. The golden hour had just slipped away, leaving behind a dreamy interplay of warm lights and deepening shadows that framed the scene like poetry.

Set against the rich architectural detail of the fortress, Hwahongmun stands as a timeless testament to Korean ingenuity and elegance. Its tiled rooftop and traditional wooden beams offer a quiet contrast to the softly lit channel of water flowing through the heart of Suwon. Below the gate, the stream gently cascades over stone steps, shimmering with soft reflections, like a watercolour painting brought to life.

The layers in these photographs reflect both the history and modern serenity of the city. Lush greenery edges the waterway, adding texture and calm while enhancing the natural flow of the composition. Every element in this frame was composed with intention, allowing the viewer to feel the delicate balance between tradition and contemporary life that defines Korea’s cultural landscapes.

In landscape and cityscape photography, moments like these invite stillness and storytelling. I aim to portray places not just as they are, but as they feel, atmospheric, quiet, alive. This shot from Suwon is one of those rare captures that speaks without words.
