Spring chicken.
Back in December, I injured myself. Couldn't bear weight on my right foot for days. Extremely painful. What did I do? Ran maybe 40 yards. No pain at the time but I woke up the next morning unable to walk.

Diagnosis: Achilles tendonitis. It resolved in a week or so.

It surprised me because I'd been doing a lot of walking and historically I've been very active. But in recent years, I've packed on too much weight and I'm sure that was a contributing factor.

So, I immediately went to work shedding the excess weight. Started using a calorie counting app, added a kettlebell workout to my routine, and increased my walking.

I'm down 30 lbs and committed to finishing this project.

@tithonium posting about a Heath Blizzard today almost broke my resolve though. Almost. 🤣
It says "cat door" right on it. Guess the chicken can't read.

Drove across the state to celebrate granddaughter #4's 11th birthday this psat weekend. I took her and granddaughter #5 (7yo) on a walk. We ended up 2 miles away at a coffee shop where I bought them hot chocolate. The eleven year old remembered me taking her on a similar walk seven years ago. She remembered it better than me. It's out of their usual experience. I hope this weekend's walks make an equally long lasting memory for the seven year old. She was so proud of herself for walking so far. She repeated the same walk with me the next morning and we brought her other sister (12yo) along.
Knowing I'm an atheist and came to that position the hard way (from deep religious indoctrination and belief in my youth) my son sent me a text:

"Hey, just so you know [Granddaughter #3] has been going to a youth group with friends and really likes it. She asked us to buy her a Bible. We got her a pink one."

I replied, "I think everyone should read the Bible, but do you think it's age appropriate?" (She's 11.)

"It's just the Bible," he said.

"So it's ok if I ask her to read Genesis 34 and explain the moral lessons it teaches? Who are the good guys, the bad guys?"

I think the son will be doing a little Bible study now. I'm gonna keep asking questions.
