Still recovering independent scholar of Violence Studies and Feminist Theology. I'm a book collector, audiophile, & recovered fountain pen addict. My interests include history, astronomy, literary theory, climate, radical geography, neuroscience, ontology, space and place, ecology, sociology, anthropology, and the relationship between technology and identity, or how society and institutions may evolve towards a humanitarian worldview ahead of technological development.

It is very difficult to still the mind. To go zen, as they say. But if you can #SeanShibe's album, Camino, takes you to discreet incommunicable places. #classicalguitar

#JimHall: The Early Albums Collection (2023). I can honestly recommend it. It is a solid collection.

I am well aware of the whiteness wars in #Jazz. I had a professor who tried a little too hard to indoctrinate students about white influence and participation in jazz throughout its many phases, completely missing the (many) point(s). I countered his arguments in more than one paper.

However, this collection is awesome. Hall was an admirable musician from what I have read about him. @jazz

Oh, sigh. Sent from "makemybusinessgreatagain" - if I am not getting crawled-induced spam like this from my contact form, it is always something about buying a dog collar. Really. Spam about a dog collar. #website #webdev
One of my favorite #AugustinHadelich albums. The I’ve been fortunate enough to see a few interviews with him. He really leaves an impression on you. Unarguably one of the finest violinists alive. #violin #violinist
#NowPlaying something on the opposite side of the spectrum though I could argue similarities, #OrnetteColeman and some wildly soothing bass on the track, “W.R.U.” #jazz #jazzmusic
My reading music this morning so far has all been #Prokofiev. #NowPlaying Oslo Philharmonic. It’s a solid album that I don’t listen to often enough.

Settling into my Sunday reading.

Forest of a Thousand Daemons: A Hunter's Sage by D.O. Fagunwa (Trans. Wole Soyinka), which I read an excerpt from years ago.

And Degrees of #Inequality: How the Politics of Higher Education Sabotaged the American Dream by #SuzanneMettler.

#RickWhite of #EricsTrip, #Elevator, #ElevatorTrough, #ElevatorToHell who is now a recluse in #Canada, having been abandoned by #SupPop, occasionally releases new material on #bandcamp. I have everything(!) he has ever recorded. He just released a Golden Hits of the 60s record. It looks just like those collections from the 60s and 70s. Includes #SimonAndGarfunkel, #TheBeatles, & #NeilDiamond covers. I had all these on #vinyl back when. #NowPlaying #60sMusic #NewMusic

My idea of a wild Friday night. My idea of a calming night any day: reading and listening to music. #NowPlaying Magnard: Complete #ChamberMusic, which I will admit to only getting because I found it at a great price and it features #CamilleThomas and reading S. D. Perry's #StarTrek #DS9 novel, Avatar (Book I of II). #books

Prices on the Albéric Magnard collection vary wildly. Presto Music wants $70(!) for the #HiRes album. ProStudioMasters wants $35 HiRes. HDTracks: $16 HiRes after coupon. 🤔

I just remembered I wrote about a partially related subject and the need to CHANGE THE CONVERSATION.

This was on #ScienceFiction, #Capitalism, and how heightened states of awareness are the *wrong direction.

I think some might see the relationship with the post above. Though, this being said, there is a great deal more that needs to be said on the subject.
