@arildsen I normally say kay-nine-ehs but now I have a significantly better way! Thanks :)

It's been a while since I played with JavaEE, now JakartaEE.
I'm pleasantly surprised how easy it was to get a Jakarata EE 10 app up and running with @Apache netbeans and Payara micro (@payarafish).

Where it seems to me that in general the "cloud native" (ahum) world is moving towards more blabla and complexity to hide important stuff from developers, Jakarta EE is moving in the right direction: no nonsense, focus on the developer who has to write the code.

@Marcus I was torn between Go and typescript, and I can't remember what the exact reason was but, I was nudged towards TS in the end after doing some reading. At one point Pulumi was everywhere in the tech press but it feels like it has gone quiet now. Might just be me 🤷‍♂️
@Marcus ah right, got ya. I've had some success with Pulumi on a cluster I use for dev but I've not had to rebuild the cluster very often so I've not really pushed Pulumi. The thing I also found was that typescript was really the only language that had a balance between verbosity and all the up-to-date functionality. I'd started with the Java SDK but found I ran into parts that had not yet been implemented.
@Marcus Hi. Happy New Year! Out of interest, what happened that made you regret using Pulumi?

The fact that Gradle insists you use build scans to find potential issues when upgrading from 7.x to 8.x, and there is no way to use build scans without either Gradle Enterprise or transmitting information to Gradle Inc. controlled servers is unacceptable IMO. Almost enough to make me rethink usage of Gradle.

@b0rk I used to use Tig and still have it installed but, I'm now using Lazygit. Lazygit does more than I need/want but, it felt like a more active project. There was a particular issue I ran into with Tig and can't for the life of me remember what it was but, it was the nudge to try Lazygit beyond the feeling that Tig had become inactive as a project. That's not to say a tool has to constantly change, and that inactivity can actually be a signal for maturity, it was just a feeling.
Thanks Jakarta EE working group for re-electing me for the Steering and Marketing/Brand committees. The trust in myself and Microsoft is highly appreciated. We will continue to try our best in doing our part to move the technology and community forward. https://www.eclipse.org/lists/jakarta.ee-wg/msg00992.html
