@markusbarth es ist imho ein kontinuierliches Ablenken von anderen Herausforderungen (aus welchen Gründen auch immer). Eigentlich sollten die Medien gar nicht erst solche Aussagen weiter verbreiten. Ich habe nur die Befürchtung, dass die Seiten zukünftig sehr leer werden.

@antifaintl Unfortunately, there actually kinda is one in Germany since 2023.
During Pride month, AfD and other right-wing extremists are celebrating their pride of being German, and spread queerphobia.
They call it "Stolzmonat", which is simply a literal German translation of pride month (yes, just literally translate a term to German and it suddenly sounds like a term the Nazis invented, even to native German speakers).
So that's how low they've stooped.

@antifaintl ok, but funny story. My gay friends adopted a kid about the same time I birthed one, and they’ve been friends their whole lives. When my daughter came out as trans, she was nervous, so to help her practice, Friend came out as straight to her dads. 🤣.

@antifaintl People get killed every so often in operas for being straight: usually it is the result of two guys interested in the same woman (e.g., La Forza del Desinto, Il Travatore, Un Ballo in Mascera). It probably happened every so often in real life too. Hope it is far less likely today than in the 19th century.

@antifaintl But in all seriousness, the Taiping Rebe was like the craziest regime ever (tl;dr: circa 1850 in China, the leader proclaimed himself as the brother of Jesus, 20M death over 15years...)

Aaaaand obviously since they were kind-of-christian, homosexuality was punished by death anyway (oddly enough this is mentioned in the french version of the article with a source on an English book, but not in the English one...)

Bonus points if they bring up voting for black and/or female Americans. While 1867 and 1920 happened, ratfuckery trampled on those rights until more like the 1960s… and both of those groups have dedicated months to their history.

Christianity comes up? Christmas and Easter celebrate their history.

Something that applies to every person who lives in America? Independence Day celebrates America.

If it binds enough people together and isn’t a global default, there’s a holiday or other recognition for it. Being straight ain’t that special, nor is being an unoppressed race.
