We all owe an apology to the Captain Planet writers about their villains being silly and unrealistic.
🎃 happy spooky time 🎃

Stepped out this morning when I saw the light hitting nearby peaks. It started off pink but turned a little peach by the time I got out there with a lens :)

Went to the #grandcanyon for the first time recently. I have a pretty bad fear of falling, but I #hiked down the bright angel trail just enough to see some #nativeamerican #pictographs. Some of them are as old as 4000 years.

Festivities kicked off today and "Call me Ishmael" starts at noon local tomorrow - it's time for the famed Moby-Dick Marathon at the Whaling Museum in New Bedford, Massachusetts. I wrote about it way back in 2009 but sadly have never attended in person. Someday!

“If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy,
don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty
of lives and whole towns destroyed or about
to be. We are not wise, and not very often
kind. And much can never be redeemed.
Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this
is its way of fighting back, that sometimes
something happens better than all the riches
or power in the world. It could be anything,
but very likely you notice it in the instant
when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the
case. Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid
of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb.”

K.331 1st movement. I love how #Mozart plays the same melody in different ways in a loop. It's like experiencing different memories of a person. Then he redoes the loops with a different tempo, making it feel like a different stage of life. So you follow this whole emotional timeline of a life. At least that's what I get out of it. I think #Beethoven does something similar with pathétique.

For Christmas I asked my girlfriend's sister to make a painting of me riding my cat Fishy into battle. I didn't expect her to actually do it, but please take a look at this absolute masterpiece she created. Words cannot express how much I love it.

I came across a little poem I had written in my notes app from a couple months ago. Please have a read if you'd like:
