"Some believe it is only great power that can hold evil in check. But that is not what I have found. It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps because I am afraid, and he gives me courage.”

I'm not really a photographer, and these are probably terrible effects to have on camera, but I thought they were cool, and the color of the lens flare (?) is pretty 🩵

My new account is over at @scevola44 and I plan on moving this one soon (though I’m unsure as to when, because I’m considering what the data loss will be). I encourage everyone to think about it.

Live long and prosper 🖖🏼

There is no scenario in which Meta will bring mostly good things. It is not a necessary evil, or an evil I want to live with. I will probably set my profile to a more private configuration soon, but the first concrete action I can take is put my data in the hands of people who think more similar to the way I do.
However, I also believe Meta and its directors have already amply demonstrated what their intentions are, and how they value anything from privacy to human rights (that is, 0). Therefore, making their transition to Mastodon as difficult as possible, and making subscribing to their instances as unappealing as possible for users should be our priority.

So, the latest discussion about #Meta and its #Project92 (tl;dr: Meta’s plan for joining Mastodon/the Fediverse) got me thinking.

I understand people saying we should “wait and see”, and that we have full power to defederate/block Meta’s instance(s) as soon as they do anything nepharious. And that’s good. And it’s good to be “better than them.”

@vantablack @retiolus @dansup @stux @calculsoberic I don’t see it on the list anymore, it might have been “sorted out” I guess.

*Insert Ralph’s “I’m in danger” meme*

@joel it’s still in beta access, on TestFlight I don’t know if Dan has a date for the release yet, but beta version has been working pretty well for me so far

Lovely little cat. Of course, the first tourist we saw pass by was taking a photo with them, and tried to pet them. Needless to say, the cat was not happy.
