Ich vermisse diesen Moment.

Entwickler:innen verbringen jede Woche unzählige Stunden in ihren IDEs.

Entwickler:innen verbringen unzählige Stunden ihres Lebens in Entwicklungsumgebungen (IDEs).

Almost 4 years ago, I wrote a blogpost about why Gradle introduces a new metadata format to overcome limitations of the POM format.

https://blog.gradle.org/guava

As example, I explored the widely-used Google Guava library.

We also proposed to Guava to publish this metadata (which was a bit involved as they build with Maven+ShScripts).

Yesterday, my PR was merged! Sometimes persistence and patience pays off in the open source Java ecosystem.

Why libraries like Guava need more than POMs

More than 10 years ago, a new Java collections library was released by Google. This library, now known as Google Guava, would gain a lot of traction over the months and years and is possibly the most used Ja...

It’s fascinating to note the turns HTML/CSS and JS #frameworks took

All abstractions becoming popular at around the same time

But while #HTML / #CSS frameworks peaked after the market had been flooded and the specs accommodated everyone’s wishes

#JS frameworks, fewer in number, ballooned into ecosystems, and sustain themselves by partially self-inflicted complexity

“The burden of proof is on you, frontend framework stans, not the vanilla Web!”—thank you, @jaredwhite

The Great Gaslighting of the JavaScript Era

The age of frontend JavaScript frameworks eating the web world didn’t happen simply because some well-meaning developers found great DX. It happened because we were fed a line.
