The web is disappearing 🕳️
According to a Pew Research Center report, 26% of pages from 2013-2023 are no longer accessible.

But that’s not the whole story.
In a new study published in VANISHING CULTURE, data scientists have found:
16% have been restored through the Wayback Machine.
56% are preserved before they disappear.

Preservation is the remedy for cultural loss.

Excited to be at CHI presenting our research on co-designing collaborative GenAI tools for gig workers!

🌟Key insights:
Freelancers push back on AI “efficiency logic”

➡️ Freelancers instead propose “Auxiliary AI” + productive friction: AI as support, not orchestrator

I met with US Senator Ed Markey. I am grateful & proud he cited my research on the invisible labor powering AI.

My research creates new tools to measure how workers fuel AI platforms under precarious, unseen conditions.

I was on the Deutsche Welle talking at UNAM about human-centered AI in Latin America — and why we must build:

☑️AI powered tech grounded in our cultures & communities

☑️AI for the workplace that empowers workers across the region

🚨 New CHI'25 paper alert!

"The Impact of Generative AI Coding Assistants on Developers Who Are Visually Impaired"

📄We study how GitHub Copilot both helps & overwhelms low-vision developers, prompting some to take "AI timeouts."
