Where did Wind Chill factors come from?

US Nat'l Weather Service #NWS started using #WindChill temps in 1973. Through the 1940s-1960s," the idea of a calculated “wind chill” effect was almost solely the domain of the military & scientists."

In 1945 two scientists published a wind chill chart "though not in any form a layperson from today would recognize".

My sister found this aerial video on NextDoor 3 hours ago. Shows fire hot spots.

Street on the left at 8 seconds is Michael Lane. Fire to the left appears to be brush, going uphill to lower part of Topanga State Park.

Street at bottom that runs to the right then curves up to the left is Avenida de la Herradura. At about 11 seconds in you can see tennis courts off left side of Herradura. That's the Rec Center.

Wider street on the right is Palisades Dr.

Fake weather "news"

Storm Radar app is wacko today. It's confusing all my "favorites" locations. Bogus hurricane, storm surge & tornado warnings for Northridge, Lake Balboa & Pacific Palisades based on Sarasota weather, And small craft warnings for Yucca Valley based on NY harbor , LI Sound & NJ to Montauk ocean conditions.

Storm Radar has a new beta version, which I'm not using.
