Great episode of The Five By this time with excellent reviews from
https://twitter.com/Sirbearsworth1,
https://twitter.com/Ind1fference,
@ruelgaviola and
@MeepleLady! Plus I do, not a review of a single game, but kind of an overview of what makes a game good or bad for a bar or cafe. https://thefiveby.fireside.fm/133

We've got a new episode from The Five By! You may have noticed some changes, so we wanted to introduce — or reintroduce — ourselves to you all and talk about why we all love gaming. Stay tuned for more reviews in 2023!

I'm curious if there are #AsianAmerican or #Asian folks here? And other cool #BIPOC people to follow?

Please boost so we can find each other  #TwitterMigration

Some general 'best practices' for new Masto users! :mastoart: As our rules state, any art that's adult/NSFW/sexual/violent etc. in nature needs to be hidden behind a content warning (the 'CW' button beneath the toot window) or with the media marked as sensitive (you'll see this option after adding media to your toot). It's not enough to just hide the media, though - you have to say *why* it's content warned, otherwise users can't make an informed decision on whether to click or not. (cont)

I'm enjoying Mastodon so far, mainly as an observer. Still trying to learn the etiquette, especially with CWs and trying to be respectful of the community that was here before a bunch of us board gamers joined. I think what I love the most about Mastodon is that it feels like SOCIAL media, with actual conversations happening and not just a bunch of copy-and-pasted scheduled posts from the birdsite for our latest content or products. It's refreshing.

@Eric_Lang one of my Twitch viewers knows I like 80s metal/thrash metal and recommended Stray Gods, a Greek band started by a guitarist honoring his favorite band, Iron Maiden. it's like stepping back (Somewhere In) time. Lots of comments saying this is the best Iron Maiden album in 20 years. I don't listen to a lot of new metal music, but I really enjoyed their retro sound. Thought you'd get a kick out of it!

Working on a Saturday night: prepping for a launch day livestream for Flatout Games. Really excited about this real-time tile-laying game! I was my college paper's sports editor for a semester and was considering a sports journalism career many moons ago before going into a more technical field. But the newspaper theme really speaks to me. 😊
Voted!

I feel hyperaware that this instance is a pre-existing community before a buncha board game twitter folks came in. I bet everyone is being really awesome - but I also suspect it's impacting those who've been here for awhile a lot as folks come in eager but coltish. I suspect it's not bad, but it could feel overwhelming. That's definitely shaping how I behave here right now.

Thanks for everyone who's been so welcoming. I appreciate your openness and patience.

I'm excited about Fit to Print. You're a newspaper editor trying to strike the right balance of stories, photos, and ads, along with the mood of your front page. I love tile-laying games and the advertisement twist is clever: ads don't score you any points, but you need them every round because the player with the least amount of ad revenue at the end goes out of business and can't win the game!
