I'm a gamester and writer. I work at Mojang on storytelling for Minecraft and have a good dog.

I've been running Night's Black Agents for my regular RPG chums, and — HYPER-NICHE-BULLSHIT TIME! — we're using QuickShock rules because we're PbtA narrative sickos who couldn't take NBA's dose of good old-fashioned combat crunch. Here's how I hastily adapted it! https://rotational.co.uk/2025/10/converting-gumshoe-quickshock-rules-to-nights-black-agents/
Converting Gumshoe QuickShock rules to Night’s Black Agents

For my regular group I’ve been running Night’s Black Agents, a TTRPG in which players are cinematic hyper-competent agents fighting a vampire conspiracy, with QuickShock rules. Here’s how I’ve adapted it.

I wrote a one-shot RPG in which players are demonic executives competing for Mammon's favour. It fits on a single sheet of paper, doesn't need a GM, and features all sorts of infernal backstabbing fun. And it's free!

Board of Mammon

I wrote another RPG. I set myself the challenge of creating it for a single sheet of paper and came up with **Board of Mammon**, a GM-less PVP one-shot RPG about greed

I just released a very light ruleset for running dark and desperate TTRPG adventures called FORTUNE DARK. You are cultists striving to claim tribute for a capricious god. It has granted you a pool of fortune dice to aid your dark quest, which will dwindle and become cursed as you play. Grab it (for free) here! https://www.rotational.co.uk/2025/07/fortune-dark-a-ttrpg-system/
Fortune Dark, a TTRPG system

For a few weeks I’ve been fiddling with creating a very light ruleset for running dark and desperate TTRPG adventures. It’s called Fortune Dark, and it’s about cultists striving to gain treasure and glory for a capricious god against ever lengthening odds. Their god has granted them a shared pool of fortune, which will dwindle and become cursed as they play. Can they claim enough tribute before their fortune runs out? Download it here for free.

Really enjoyed this radio programme on Moondog. Had no idea how far he collaborated with and inspired other musicians from all spheres https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/b0b48wq9?partner=uk.co.bbc

There’s far too much going on in this winter photo of the Avon river.

GOTY 2024

I didn’t play many games this year. Not sure why; not for a paucity of options, nor even opportunity. But they generally didn’t seem as essential as usual and when I’ve tried to sit down with so many of them, I’ve struggled to apply enough attention and energy. Some transcended this sad state of affairs, though, with these as my favourites from the year. They’re in no particular order — I’m actually pretty happy with the range of genres and styles, heh.
