Neuroscientist, freshly recruited by @inserm.
Information & control theory applied to system and cognitive neuroscience research with a strong focus on neuromodulation.
More specifically: controllability inference, cognitive control, learning, decision-making and occasionally social cognition in rodents and humans

I guess the victory of Trump achieved to convince me that using Twitter is absolutely useless for someone like me. Let's see if I manage to quit this time.
For those who can reach Paris and are interested in open science, I strongly recommend attending this (free) 2-days workshop. Paris Brain Institute, 22nd-23rd of November.
I'll give a practical 3h crash course on how to design efficient web experiments for cognitive testing.

Serotonin is such an enigma.

In a fresh paper by the lab of Mark Andermann it is shown that serotonin gates the information flow from retina to thalamus.

Trying to understand the bigger picture, we have recently proposed that serotonin has a central role in digesting information. Our paper w @macshine @DrYohanJohn @claireocallaghan and others can be found here: https://shine-lab.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/2022_brain.pdf

Each time I see a wave of new followers in Mastodon, I take a quick look at Twitter and I try to guess which of the recent tweets by Musk may be the cause for this momentary exacerbation of the exodus.
My bet is that the Fauci / Prosecute pronouns will keep increasing Mastodon counts for a little while :).
This year, the "regional" #FENS meeting will be in Algarve, one of the most beautiful corners of Europe. The program also looks very promising, especially for researchers interested in stress and preclinical #neuroscience. 🀩

Is there anyone on academic Mastodon who has insights into the possible scenarios for #ERC funding in relation to EU-UK negociations?
My understanding is that a lot of people on the reserve list (like me) might ultimately be funded because:
Case 1. UK joins Horizon 2021-27 and injects ~7 billions in its budget.
Case 2. UK does not associate, most UK winners are instead funded by UKRI, thereby leaving a bunch of ERC grants available for others.
Am I missing something?
