URGENT CALL OUT FOR YOUR HELP
TO SAVE A JEWISH LIFE IN SYDNEY

My family in the Sydney community needs our help.

Murray Foltyn (aged 41), married to Claudia (nee Milunsky), has a rare blood cancer and requires an urgent blood stem cell transplant to help save his life. They have a 3 year old son and a 9 month old baby girl.

We are reaching out to you and the power of our community for help in finding a match so that the transplant can proceed. Time is of the essence. Giving stem cells is a non-invasive process - similar to giving blood.

Previous searches on the worldwide bone marrow database have been unsuccessful and our best chance of a cure is a match with a person of Jewish Ashkenazi background.

Bonus if your family is from Illford, England, or the village of Halmesh just outside of Trnava (today part of Slovakia) or Morava Ostrava (today close to the border of Poland). 1/

I decided that I want to try taking a solid two days after coming back from a work assignment to just relax. Maybe catch up on my tv to-watch list. But unfortunately it's late February so #today I did my taxes instead.
Continuing on my career change journey, I've been investigating maybe getting a masters and my god. The cost of higher education in this country is out of control. I know I'm not saying anything groundbreaking here, but I'm well past the age where I want to be taking out student loans and my god. I guess I could sell my house.
On a break at work because my microscope lightbulb died and we can't figure out how to change it/aren't sure we even have the right replacement bulb 😂

This is really bad and people outside SFF short fiction need to recognize it for the dead mine canary it is (thread in link)

If you aren't in the SF/F industry this tweet might not look like a big deal.

This is a crisis.

Clarkesworld is the fastest/most efficient publisher for responding to story submissions (also one of the best-paying).

They have been overwhelmed by AI-generated spam. https://twitter.com/shackletonci/status/1627730312925966336?s=46&t=7ihhpI7dUuwK4WRKfLbNog

If you're using Mastodon on a computer, there's an optional "advanced" mode available on your server's website.

By default Mastodon uses a simple single column, but advanced mode is a Tweetdeck-style multicolumn interface that lets you add as many columns as you want. This includes special pinned hashtag feeds where you can combine, require or exclude particular tags within a single feed.

To find out how to activate and use advanced mode, click here:

Discovered a website on career change that may be just what I need... making myself some lists now and you know I love lists
Very bad neck pain #today making it difficult to screen slides at my microscope. I need a heat wrap or something.

Right now, the entire country of Denmark is using 4245MW of electricity.

Windmills are producing: 3442 MW
Solar is producing: 746 MW

So if we do the math, wind + solar = 98.7% of our energy use right now is 100% renewable

Just a reminder that not only can we fix climate change, we are fixing it.

One thing I've struggled with on Mastodon is finding people and communities who post things that I'm interested in that are outside of who I currently follow.

Can anyone hear point me at folks who talk about chronic pain, disability and autoimmune issues? If not, boost for reach?

Edit: I specifically want people and not hashtags. I know how hashtags work. I don't want to use them.

Edit 2: I've got a good number of folks to follow. Muting this post now!
