Hello! I am a longtime software developer with an interest in game development but not much practice with it.

I'm working on a variety of game (and other small web-based toy) ideas. At this point, the most developed is Combat!: The Game, see the link in my profile.

I'm partnered, a parent, in #Kitchener #WaterlooRegion #Ontario #Canada, and #AuDHD

I’ve been hearing for a couple of weeks now that Taurus (sun) and Aquarius (moon) are two of several signs for whom significant change and upheaval is starting on February 17th and lasting for a couple of years.

I just learned that for me, it will be embodied in the change from Tuesday to Friday for household waste pick. It has been Tuesday for 22 and I have several cleaning and tidying habits pinned to collecting the various waste bins around the house and it is going to take me both those years to adjust!

@fraying I understand completely! Just had to make sure my assumptions were correct.
@fraying I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this but it’s worth being explicit: Can you ship to Ontario, Canada?

My employer has provisioned a new laptop for me. For the first time since 2010 or so my daily driver will be a Linux system - Ubuntu since that’s their standard.

I have a lot of disentangling to do from big tech still (I’m heavily entrenched in the Apple ecosystem still) but I’m pleased by this step.

Hey!

I'm a CISSP (sorry, customers made me get it) who has been doing mostly GRC work in medium sized businesses for over a decade. I've been deeply involved in building security programs for my organization, with a focus on building security processes rather than trying to bolt on security.

I've had internal people complain they don't think the security team does anything, with auditors impressed by how far ahead of expectations we were, because our processes were seamless enough to not be noticed internally.

I'd love to talk if you need someone.

I'm in Waterloo Ontario but prefer remote. You need to be able to hire a Canadian, though I don't care where you are.

@silverwizard yeah, that is bonkers!
@silverwizard this may be in the wrong direction entirely, it: can you ask that same llm to compare your original document and the updated document and have it analyze the accuracy of the summary?

Kind of big update to Combat!: The Game: http://robsdreamco.com/ctg

The same core mechanics and same basic graphics, but implemented much better and with a better overall interface.

The newest functionality is that it now supports mouse and tap to control characters and works on mobile. It is too small on mobile right now, but is functional. There's some other niceties like specifying some settings (map and number of characters).

I might be shelving this one for a little bit. I have two other ideas that have been pushing their way forward but I really wanted mobile support so I can play it at idle times and figure out what I want to next with it.

I am enjoying playing it probably more than any other game idea I've built out. I really enjoyed _building_ Inventory Management: The Game, but couldn't get it to a point where even I enjoyed interacting with it as a game so it's a nice change of pace.

Random fantasy turn-based tactics scenarios.

@uxmark lol I thought I was following you, guess I was just following good hash tags!
