On a more personal note, this update has been the hardest I’ve worked on so far. There was a few times where I wasn’t sure I could deliver it. I burnt out back in December and had to take a month off. But I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out, and I hope you all do too! It lays out some pretty important foundations for things to come and should make certain updates a lot easier. Onwards!

Revamped collections, quick access to external sources, smarter episode notifications and much more! Reposts are hugely appreciated! Let’s dive into what’s new. ⤵️ https://apps.apple.com/app/sequel/id1630746993 #indiedev

What are you supposed to do if your project doesn’t compile with Xcode 26 with a non-descript “Command SwiftCompile failed with a nonzero exit code” error that seemingly points at nothing specific?

Mark the date! @sequel 2.5 drops June 25th! Want an early look? The beta is live now on TestFlight. 🎉

This update is all about giving you more control. The new features are built around the way you like to track, browse, and catch up on your media.

If you’re excited, sharing this post really helps get the word out and it means a lot 🙌

The last two noteworthy features and improvements in @sequel 2.5 are:
1. A new automatic backup system which runs quietly in the background
2. iCloud sync being up to 240x faster (yes, really)!

If you’re curious, the latter was partly achieved by switching to CKSyncEngine from NSPersistentCloudKitContainer, and re-architecting the database to get around CloudKit’s limitations and… quirks. This required a complete rewrite of the sync engine and literally months of work!

And on top of this, @sequel will use @trakt for its episodes’ release dates. Not only are they going to be more accurate, but they’ll indicate a release time so you’ll know exactly when you can watch an episode 😊

A little less visually exciting, but oh so convenient, @sequel 2.5 will feature new preferences for episodes notifications.

1. Be alerted as the episode releases or a few minutes before.
2. Be notified for every episodes, or just seasons premieres and finales (perfect if you like to binge entire seasons).
3. Only get alerts for series you’re caught up on (i.e. you’ve watched the last available episode). A great way to reduce the amount of notifications you get!

Hope you’ll enjoy that one! 😊

Please please please make automatic-translation an API developers can use! It would make localizing Sequel so much easier!

The Nintendo Music app’s “Extend to…” feature now applies to the whole playlist! This is what I wish it did when it came out 🥳
I also refined the look of the media details screen in @sequel 2.5. It’s a small thing but it generally results in a more vibrant and harmonious look. Check out a couple before and after screenshots below. What do you think? 👀
There’s a fair few destinations available and you can turn them off individually to make it easier to access the ones you need!
