I sigh at computers, especially the ones in cars, for a living. Interested in audio, hi-fi, music, and curry.

If you search Amazon for wall clocks, there are options for mechanism type; "Mechanical", "Electric", and "Atomic". Clicking "Atomic" yeilds only disappointment.

Also barely any actual clocks but that is a deeply pedantic etymological rant for another time.

This morning Google Photos did it's "memory" thing and showed a picture from 2016, which my soul refuses to accept was a decade ago.

I just googled something and Google put its AI summary top, which incorrectly used a Facebook post - misinterpreting it. The Facebook post itself was an AI summary of a user post - which AI had also misinterpreted. The result is the Google answer was just total bollocks.

Our new induction hob has a fan that points down into the drawer below. If it has excess heat, why isn't it pushing it towards warming the pans I'm cooking with instead of the utencils I'm not?

My dalliance with KDE is at an end. Its Wayland compositor rendering frames out of order and its PDF viewer's tissue-of-lies print preview were the last straws.

Which desktop environment should I hate next?

It’s really impressed the number of people and organisations that are repeatedly and consistently wrong keep getting their views repeated as if they’re infallible geniuses.

Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Gartner, and so on are just laughably uninformed about most of the things that they talk about. You can do pretty well betting against whatever they get excited by.

I’m not right all the time, but if my track record for prediction was as bad as these folks I’d refrain from making any statement about the future more precise than ‘tomorrow will probably be’.

Achievement unlocked: Opisometer and hodometer used in the same sentence at work.

It took me a while to remember opisometer, but hodometer is easily remembered as it's also a character in Game of Thrones.

I have realised that the first reason I am having trouble finding the website for the bowls green near my house is that they have no online presence.

The second reason is that I DuckDuckWent for "bowels green".

@rjek I refer to containers as Collateralized Technical Debt Obligations.
