@chmod777 what kind of friends do you have
I switched fields entirely, I mean from investment banking client to manufacturing client (still as a Sr. Infrastructure Architect), with the notion that I wanted to learn something new. Now I’m here trying to wrap my head around OPC classic and DCOM. That’s some old fashioned broken design right there :-)
But hey - I wanted new challenges
@vkc I for one are happy to see you here on Tootiverse. As you mentioned in you blog, I agree that the barkeep seems to have already left the building on twitter. Not everyone Wiedmann know will follow us out the bar, and some of the one that do will go to different bars than we do - however I for one are thinking that it is what has to happen to stay safe and sane. Even if it might be at the expense of loosing touch we a few contacts and/or friends. Friends will find you anyway.
Coming back to the tootiverse…
@thelinuxEXP happy to see you on mastodon. I agree with you that twitter will likely be re-flooded with energy sucking idiots, racists, and generally blabbering fools
Yeah - so i straight up and quit my job this tuesday, without having anything else in place. Might not have been the smartest move in my career - but at some point you have to draw the line on incompetent bosses.
@chmod777 @BrodieOnLinux part2 and no its not ancient, not bleeding edge. I think it's very average (Ryzen5-3600, GTX1660Super)
@chmod777 @BrodieOnLinux It might just be me protesting the point. But I switched back to Mint. Partially to prove the point that it really doesn't matter to most actual work scenario.
Before someone says I'm a noob, I'll say I'm a 25 year Unix/Linux vet. I don't find Arch complicated, it's just not adding anything unique that is making a big difference to me. I can get all working on Mint with no issues - even steam, Docker, AI/ML, coding - not having the latest kernel is not stopping my work
@BrodieOnLinux I'm hoping your video on NOT distro hooping get alot of views. I SOOO much agree with your sentiment on this topic. Unless you have some weirdly specific edge case, the distro don't matter, as after just 1 hour of setting it to your liking, essentially only difference is PKG mgr and slight version differences (which can easily be overcome with flatpacks, snaps appimages).
I'm tired of seeing all the YouTubers focus on distro, as opposed to actual project done via their Linux boxes
Why is this happening every time....
Forgetting to add my user to group "vboxusers" - then spend ½-1 hour not being able to figure our USB pass-through to my VM's *DOH*
Once added everything just works....
