I switched fields entirely, I mean from investment banking client to manufacturing client (still as a Sr. Infrastructure Architect), with the notion that I wanted to learn something new. Now I’m here trying to wrap my head around OPC classic and DCOM. That’s some old fashioned broken design right there :-)
But hey - I wanted new challenges
Coming back to the tootiverse…
@thelinuxEXP happy to see you on mastodon. I agree with you that twitter will likely be re-flooded with energy sucking idiots, racists, and generally blabbering fools
Yeah - so i straight up and quit my job this tuesday, without having anything else in place. Might not have been the smartest move in my career - but at some point you have to draw the line on incompetent bosses.
@BrodieOnLinux I'm hoping your video on NOT distro hooping get alot of views. I SOOO much agree with your sentiment on this topic. Unless you have some weirdly specific edge case, the distro don't matter, as after just 1 hour of setting it to your liking, essentially only difference is PKG mgr and slight version differences (which can easily be overcome with flatpacks, snaps appimages).
I'm tired of seeing all the YouTubers focus on distro, as opposed to actual project done via their Linux boxes
Why is this happening every time....
Forgetting to add my user to group "vboxusers" - then spend ½-1 hour not being able to figure our USB pass-through to my VM's *DOH*
Once added everything just works....
This whole Gemini thing.
From what i see it boils down to people wanting an internet akin of the WWW in the early days (before the bloat\sec issues).
Honest question. Why develop an entire new protocol, server and clients to serve what is equal to a subset of html ?
Could you not just run a nginx/apache with all the bloat disabled, and just server static pages, with simplified HTML - and essentially get the same result ? (Without having to req. a new client/server stack) ?
Thinking of quitting my job today. I have nothing new on hand. But boss-man solution to me stating im burning out is presenting me with plan to deliver on "mandatory project" to a total of 3700 hours in 2021. Just *sigh*
HI all Good people
Yeah I have been away for a very long time. Why? Well life happens. Insane work load at the job. Thanks to everyone who have reached out concerned for me - im fine now.
Cheers
I've been Linuxing long enough that I've become lazy about my distros. Just want it to work and not have to fiddle with it. For a while I wanted nerdier distros and window managers and stuff. Now I'm just like "Maybe I'll install Mint?"
I know I've alienated half my Masto-followers now. Sorry. 😉
