Some personal news:

Twitter is now paying people to spread hate

Reminder: if you’re still on Twitter—your presence and your interactions generate revenue. You’re literally funding the alt right.

Since I'm seeing a new wave of people saying they plan to leave Twitter, you may like my browser tool that takes the zip file of your Twitter export and returns a zip file of a web site that lets people browse and search your tweets. You can just upload the files wherever you normally host html and it'll work just fine.

The baby is at an age (17 months) where every time she says something now, it's presented as a test where you have to repeat back what she says and you either get a Yeah or a very indignant No.

For the record, I'm not tooting this as some sort of self-congratulations. Just engaging in introspection. It was a really hard thing to do!

I liked posting on social media, on the old Twitter. It sucked feeling like I was dirtying myself tweeting and so I lurked for months and still consumed tweets. But even that was poisoning my soul. Finally cut the cord.

Ok... A little self-congratulating. Give me that much!

Finally found the strength to delete Twitter off my phone. I can't say I'm thrilled to replace one source of doom scrolling and news with this, maybe Threads, random Discords, and what remains of Reddit. But that pain is worth it to cleanse myself of being a part of Elon's bullshit and to never have to read the half-cooked vomit from some algo-boosted, bluecheck fascist shitbrain ever again.
Uh, please tell me this is universal? Please?

It gets more absurd every day for Big Journalism to keep pouring its work into Saudi-government-funded Twitter, which is controlled by a right-winger who hates real journalism and boosts extremists.

It gets even more absurd for journalism orgs to keep embedding tweets in their stories, given Musk's unfathomable destruction of the platform's usefulness.

I keep wondering when journalists will discover that big tech is not their daddy.

Just gonna leave this here.
