After much work, Suzi is finally back in action again! 🥰 I've given it three oil flushes so far, and there isn't any noticeable sign of coolant contamination left in the oil, so I'll probably run it on the current oil for a little while, before giving it one final change with decent quality oil.
Also, don't hold your phone and drive, kids. Particularly if your car is a manual 🙃
A little update on the Suzuki - seems like it may not be as catastrophic as I initially thought 🤞
Selamat jalan, little Suzi 😭
My idiot brother has apparently blown the head gasket on my car (or worse, cracked the head or block), as oil and coolant are mixing. I am beyond pissed off at the moment.
The fluorescent light in my bathroom stopped working a couple of days ago, and I finally decided to see what the issue was. The bulb looked ok, so I checked the electronic ballast. Eventually, I came across a 100nf capacitor that looked like it had a crack through the middle of it, and sure enough, it tested open with the capacitance setting on my multimeter. I found a suitable replacement in my stash of junk parts, and now I no longer have to pee in the dark 😛
The Indonesian-import 1997 Suzuki Carry Futura van that's been in my family since 2001 was promised to me several years ago, after my dad stopped using it. Unfortunately, I've kind of been involved in a weird "custody" battle for it with my second youngest brother, who has surreptitiously been trying to take it for himself. This doubly pisses me off, because not only was the vehicle promised to me originally as mentioned, but I've also put a ton of my own money and many hours of personal labor doing repairs and mods to it over the years.
Anyway, at least one part of the battle has finally been won, as I spent a non-insignificant chunk of change getting it taxed and registered in my name, so legally, I finally own it. If I were a complete jerk, I'd just take it and drive it back here to my place, leaving him with no vehicle at all, but since I do actually have some decency, I will give him time to finally find his own damn car before that happens (something which I've offered to help him with many times, but he's been completely uninterested).

I had to have my phone sent back to Samsung for repairs under warrantee, which apparently could take like 3 weeks. So in the meantime, I have a choice between these two to use so that I can at least make and receive phone calls 😛
The Nokia 3315 makes the most sense, since it has full SMS capability (the Motorola can only receive text - it can't send), and is way better suited for fitting in the pockets of the tight pants I tend to wear, lol. But I do like the idea of putting the big old Motorola to some legitimate use. Picture taken with my Sony Mavica FD200 floppy disk camera.
For whatever reason, all the radio groups on Facebook have become a massive dumping ground for AI garbage. In this guy's case, I legitimately can't tell if he's trolling, or if he actually thinks he's fooling people with this terrible AI image that he claims is his radio collection 🤦♀️
A friend gave me this Philips PR 701 "EuroPorty" GSM bagphone a number of years back as a birthday gift. Other than the disintegrating handset cord, it's in good condition, and comes with a ton of the original paperwork (a lot of which I can't show, as it has the original owner's info on it). It also came with numerous old SIM cards, including a special edition one from the 1995 Rugby World Cup, which is neat. I did manage to get this phone to work briefly a couple of times, after changing some capacitors in the handset, but it would only stay registered on the GSM network for like 30 seconds before disconnecting (2G cellular is still active and usable here), and I never figured out why. And then at some point, being the dyslexic idiot that I am, I managed to connect the 12V battery backwards - no magic smoke escaped, but now if you turn it on, the LCD backlight comes on, but nothing else happens, which is most unfortunate 😕 I did open it up, but never found any obvious damage from the reverse polarity incident, but the unit is full of leaky SMD capacitors, which further discouraged me from trying to revive it. So while it would've been awesome to have the phone be fully functional, I think it's unfortunately going to be relegated to being a display piece. At the very least I get a nice handbag out of it I suppose.
