When renewables flood the grid with more electricity than is needed at that moment, we don’t say „How wonderful! Let’s find ways to store that excess electricity so we can share it back to the grid when needed.“ Instead we sing the song of fossil fuel capitalism that claims this is a BAD thing and we need to shut down the renewable plants so The Grid can keep on working based on scarcity and rent seeking. It's like we all have been brainwashed by the grid operators and the fossile fuel industry.

what we need is free software, and we need it in the most holistic way possible. software which goes against all hierarchies: anti-fascist, feminist, anti-racist, lgbtq+ inclusive, anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, anti-genai, etc

yes, this includes source availability under a free software license. of course it does, it's still free software

and we need it for everyone, not just power users. everyone should be empowered and we should be in solidarity with the whole working class

Verder merkte Van Reybrouck op dat regeringsleiders vroeger bezig waren met de eeuwige vrede en nu eerder met de eeuwige jeugd van zichzelf en dat hij niet eerder heeft meegemaakt dat politici zo gretig een oorlogskas willen spekken. 👉“Ooit was investeren in defensie zoiets als het kopen van een te duur slot voor je fiets,” zei hij. “Je wilt het niet, maar doet het als sluitpost. Nu lijkt de oorlogsindustrie belangrijker dan vrede of het slot belangrijker dan de fiets zelf.” En tja, we bezuinigen inderdaad op zorg en uitkeringen en geven (die) miljarden extra uit aan het leger.👈

#Linux became #slopware. The best #GNU/Linux distro still depends on #AI
slop. #Hurd is not ready yet. #Hyperbola #BSD needs support in order to
fully properly switch from a #GNU/Linux OS to a GNU? #BSD one.

Depressing times, but maybe enlightening ones too. Linux since 1996 was
just a corporate workauround to drive commercial Unix tools on it.

In the end #IBM won. My tip for the #GN[U] develoepers for #GUIX:
consider Unix dead. Don't try to resurrect it. It's finished, rotten,
bloated, propietarized, outdated. Ironically the licensed GPLv2 kernel
with less blobs than Linux came from AT&T and it's Unix 2.0.
They already did Unix better than Unix itself. Either you focus and enhance
#Hurd, or lose against the blobslop OS. Make an outstanding FS on Hurd.
Give more rights to the user than the shitty layers of #dbus/#polkit and the
like to fix the lack of proper namespaces on Linux.
I said 'proper', Plan9/9front it's light years ahead.
Don't get just 'well enough' with X11/wayland. You can do better stuff.
Ditto with Emacs, forget coreutils, reimplement everything you
can with jitted Elisp and Elisp code replacing these outdated Unix
tools. Eshell can be a better shell. The 9front folks already did it
with 'rc' simplyfing Unxi shells to the extreme.
