Dear fellow techies:

If you have a great idea for a fediverse tool, and it's amazing that nobody's done it yet... ask around. Especially ask PoC and LGBT folks.

There might be very good reasons it hasn't been done yet.

Or--it might have been done already, multiple times, and raised a storm of protests that drove each developer into shelter. You don't want to be that person.

The fedi needs tools! The fedi needs activitypub hackers! Don't waste your time writing code nobody wants, work with the community.

Hint: we don't want indexers or search engines.

Dog is home, cone of shame is shameful, but Princess is not crying like yesterday, and went right into her crate to curl up and sleep. Surgical shirt will arrive Thur. Biopsy results in a week, stitches out in 10-14 days.

Mom relieved, me exhausted, takeout is working for both of us. Dad home in about 90 minutes, and I am praying that is smooth and uneventful and not late.

Vet called after the procedure and told me it wasn’t actually an abscess, in fact, she’s not sure what it is. A large mass, surrounded by an infection. Dog did well through surgery, they are observing her and I hope to go get her about an hour after I make this toot. Said YES to biopsy, we’ll know in about a week if it’s something benign or malignant.

Told everything to Alzheimer’s Mom, who took it pretty well, and told her we’d feed Dad leftovers and get something delivered because I felt too stressed to cook tonight, and now she’s upbeat.

Also had a palliative care team video conference, and that was just emotionally exhausting based on where we are in the decline of my dad.

It’s about 11am, we’re back at the vet to drop off Princess to get her abscess procedure. Been up since 4:22 when I heard her walking around and crying. That sedation that didn’t do the job yesterday apparently gave her confusion and anxiety all night.

Gonna be a long day today.

New Virginia bill HB1707, if passed, would hijack suicide laws to mandate teachers out trans students to parents.
