But what about the emissions? (Napkin math)
Round trip Berlin-Lisboa:
Train ~72kg CO²
- 1920km * 30g CO²/km in DE/ES/PRT
- 1100km * 3,6g CO²/km in FR
- 2* 10kg CO² stay in Hostel
Flight ~ 1060kg CO²
- 380kg direct
- 680kg passive
So less than 10% CO² compared to a flight❗
Wow everything went just as planned today, I arrived in Madrid on time 🙏
I'll stay here for the night, get some rest and then tomorrow morning I'll take the final part of the journey to Lisbon.
The waiting hall here is really beautiful 🤗🌴(photo not mine though)
On time again in Barcelona and left on time to my finally last destination today, Madrid.
Funnily enough, I'm sitting in the same train model that's used for the Highspeed-Service ICE in Germany.
It'll take around 3h for this 500km journey
A good start in the day, everything is on time! I also equipped myself with Akimbo-Waffles for breakfast.
Today is going to be the longest day, I'll be nearly non-stop driving until I reach Madrid at 11pm, with two changes in Lyon and Barcelona. So far so good!
I'm feeling very lucky that #interrail exists in Europe, otherwise this would be impossible to plan!
My first leg of the journey starts tonight, going from Berlin (22:00) to Brussels (9:30) in a #europeansleeper night train. Let's see how comfy these 60year old cars are!
