The blastwave took me here. Trying to figure out the post bird world.
Learned a new thing today, there's no functionality to list what hashtags you followed in a mad dash to get some content and maybe reconsider what you want in your feed.
ianobMastodon works differently to Twitter, so heres some tips:
- Favouriting something tells the poster you liked it, and it shows up in your own Favourites list. It does *nothing* to tell others about it - there is no algorithm here!
- Boosting tells your followers about a post. You can boost AND favourite, and you should probably boost more than you retweeted on twitter!
- You find stuff using hashtags, so don't forget to use them!

I think I'm enjoying the vibe on Mastodon so far, but I realise that I've just come in on a wave of new users and the culture is going to be warped by that influx.

This is also a space to be protected. From fascists, bigots, etc., and also from corporate capture (unless you want to watch it turn into what the greater web turned into. Some of us lived through that once. Would be nice not to again.) Opposing such things—and vocally if need be—is not a negative; it is a positive.

I'm an IT guy in #Adelaide but honestly I don't like talking work. My online interests are much more extra-curricular.
I'm a #Vocalist for a #DoomMetal band called Bong Coffin - I also write all the songs and record all our demos, which are up on our #bandcamp page.
I have dabbled with #TTRPG content and wrote an expansion for #morkborg called Qvke Borg, based after my favourite PC game. That's published under the name Bird Silhouette Games, and I'm also part of a co-op called the Bogfolk Cafe where we intend to publish a bunch more cool RPG stuff soon.
I also buy too many #Warhammer minis and paint them to an... acceptable standard.
Basically I'm a giant #nerd and intend to share stuff I'm working on with some general musing about whatever.
