After more than 20 years out of the games industry (mostly doing web based business applications), I'm having fun learning new tools and making indie games.

My first release , a free to play 2D mobile game called Zoo Balloon, is out now on iOs and Android

Two years since the new version of google icons and the struggle is still real

It's #ScreenshotSaturday so I thought I'd share a few more images from my first #IndieGame

(We had a bit of a hiccup on rolling out to international android stores, so if you couldn't find it before, please have another try)

Evolution of Smart Products cartoon - Marketoonist | Tom Fishburne

One of the most popular cartoons I ever drew was about the Internet of Things, right after Google announced the acquisition of Nest in early 2014. “I think my Nest smoke alarm is going off,” one character tells another. “Google Adwords just pitched me a fire extinguisher and an offer for temporary housing.”

Marketoonist | Tom Fishburne - Marketoonist is the thought bubble of Tom Fishburne. Marketing cartoons, content marketing with a sense of humor, keynote speaking.

Most of my games experience was writing assembly code and drawing pixel graphics for things like the game boy so returning to #gamedev has been a huge learning curve, but old dogs can learn new tricks and I've had fun learning.

Shameless plug: my first #indiegame is out on iOs and Android

Coming back to #gamedev after more than 20 years' programming business stuff has been a huge learning curve.

My first look at the Unity IDE left me feeling like a caveman looking at the large hadron collider:

I made a thing! (Shameless plug)

More than 20 years since my last involvement with the games industry (crunch culture never agreed with me) I've just released my first #indiegame

Zooballoon is a little arcade game with art by my brother @DaveWindett available now on iOs and Android

Hope you like it

Verification of a link in a mastodon profile needs a link back from the page but you might not want that link visible

I don't like using display:hidden in the css with no way of unhiding it

I experimented and found that you can use
<link rel="me" href=“…” >
in your page’s <head> instead of a hidden <a href>

Edit and save your profile to update it after adding the link on your site

Example: See the links to Website and Kaci Bell on my brother’s profile @DaveWindett

Hi, I'm cautiously dipping my toes into gamedev after more than 20 years away doing webdev.

I coded and did pixel art in the late 80s (Amstrad, Spectrum, C64, etc.) and again in the early 2000s (Gameboy Colour / Advance) but where I worked hours and pay were bad. Short dev times meant never being proud of what you made.

Back then we built everything with nothing. The power of modern game engines is stunning.

I’m having fun and should be releasing my first indie game on mobile soon.
