Formerly Ragnell the Foul, but I've been mellowing as I age.

just look at Elon Musk’s private texts that were released

this isn’t some strategic genius move

it’s a bunch of out-of-touch weirdos angry at “woke culture” and thinking the rest of the world shares their bizarre fixations on this stuff https://twitter.com/mattbinder/status/1591813699840495616

Anyway, sorry about the transporter malfunction.

So far the big thing in favor of migrating servers is that on witches.live the terminology is all whimsically witchy, which would be a bit much except it means that likes are "sigils" rather than "Favorites", and I feel more free to like things. It makes it more a matter of sending a message to the other poster than curating for my own feed.

Weird how the little things matter.

@mastodonusercount Mastodon registrations running at ten thousand registrations per hour, or three registrations per second. Been doing that for the last twelve hours.

The surge started at 5pm PST, the same time that Musk’s hardcore deadline ended and many twitter employees quit.

Some perspective for the newcomers :-)

15 days ago we had 140 users. Now we have 40188

😃

So mastodon.social is a bit overrun, I'm thinking of moving over to https://witches.live/@ragnell -- haven't made a final decision but I'll import everything from here, including followers and pin the post if I do.

I might try separating my general and my occult thoughts into two accounts instead (if I find a good app for it), though. In which case, if you follow for occulty goodness then those will be over there.

i thought mastodon required some smarts but really what it requires is a little patience and willingness to slow down
just watched a big twitter personality start mastodon, issue several highly critical tweets about it, get super frustrated, and delete their mastodon account all in like 15 minutes. people are wild

We have over 6,000 archivists working in the United States and it is enormously frustrating to see the same 1-2 archivists cited in articles about digital archives. I am begging journalists to source some quotes from archivists who are not white men deeply embedded in Silicon Valley culture.
