@penfount I don't require, but I greatly prefer waterproof/resistant inks. I like the idea of indelibility. All my new inks are either iron gall or pigment inks.
My favorites are Octopus Fluids Write & Draw Grey Frog, Platinum Citrus Black, Sailor Seiboku, Rohrer & Klingner Salix.

I'm always on the lookout for Sheaffer converters. I think they've been hard to get for at least the past couple years, but I have noticed better availability recently.
£8 seems pretty steep for a converter, but not for Sheaffer. The cheapest I've found is AliExpress.
Cult Pens have them for £6.99.

While brands like Edison get wonderful reviews for their pens which often are around 170 bucks that come with a steel nib, and Conklin which also...

Pricier, but have you looked at the Bock Titanium Full Flex? I haven't tried one. The material looks darker than standard stainless steel nibs. But it's not a black nib. https://www.fpnibs.com/products/bock-250-titanium-full-flex
I'm assuming the Conklin has a Bock housing? I was told you can fit a JoWo nib into Bock housing, but Bock nibs don't fit into JoWo housings.
