A small preview how the Rating section on the page could look like.

I'm still in the exploration phase, but it feels quite good already. In this case I have a rating and a review, so the button says "edit". Otherwise it would say create and only appears after I rated a game.

Things still to consider: How do I react when someone has a written review and wants to remove their rating?

Block it?
Add a dialog that says they have to remove the review first?
Allow it?

We will see :D

Ugh… Just got a "IGDB Partner Satisfaction Survey". The questions imply they want to change something to their free offering.

Fingers crossed this won't be a premium API in the future. This would be a major disruption to many sites including Questlog.

Most Gaming sites you all use today use the IGDB API to get and update data. If this streams suddenly stops or gets expensive many sites would probably vanish or suddenly also get a premium tier.

I really hope it only looks like it… I want to keep Questlog as a free service.

I guess 10 bucks a month would be okay for me as it's still a hobby project and hobbies cost money. But history shows that 10 bucks isn't really something we have to expect when premium tiers are planned…

I'm reworking the Review/Rating system currently. One of the main feature request there was to rate a game without writing a review.

I understand this now. It feels so much better. Thanks for all the feedback.

It will still take a bit of time, as there's more to rewrite, than I thought, but it's looking and feeling good already.

I recently updated to iOS 26 (It's about as terrible as everyone says, maybe more) and realized Questlog was kind of broken there as Safari 26 doesn't respect browser standards anymore. Colors were off and the color in the status bar of iOS was broken.

I fixed this in the last update.

@reznik And it's fixed.

In the future it's definitely more transparent why it's not possible.

Instead of removing the button it's now disabled and a small info text shows why.

Funfact: All users combined (that have the Steam Connection active) have 21,905 games (combines, duplicates not filtered) synced via Steam.

I guess it would be fun to put some anonymous statistics on a page. So I don't have to go to the database every time and look stuff like that up. But also to make it more alive.

No additional data would be captured for this. Just the stuff that is in the database anyways because Questlog needs it to work.

As always: No tracking.

Hi there. Just pushed a quick fix for the automatic Steam sync. That didn't work because of a Guard that only protected that method in Production in a specific way.

I just ran the auto-sync and it worked.

Ok, I created a project in my GitHub Repo to outline what is planned in 2026. (As everything is in German, it's private. Maybe I have time to make an open roadmap some time)

This is the stuff I want to include before the end of the year, but as always it's not finished as I always take your feedback into account.

So if you have any feature requests or things annoy you, please let me know :)

I guess now that I have project management out of the way I can focus on improving Questlog again.

Hi there. 3 years ago I decided to release this project to the wild and pushed the button.

Questlog 0.1.0 went live. Except my wife nobody cared for the first two days but then people actually started to join the project.

Quickly my goal of 10 users in the first year was reached and more.

Last year at this time Questlog had 450 users, this doubled in the last 365 days. This is nuts.

Oh! And I decided to drop the Beta status. Questlog is now finally version 1.0.0 and the Logo looks a bit naked now. But yeey! 🎉 Nothing big feature wise in 1.0.0 but I'm motivated to build more cool stuff for and with you!

I wrote a bit more about the last year and my plans in the following post on Questlog's blog. So if you have time you can read a bit outside of Mastodon.

Sometimes I think about building the complete Frontend new with #Livewire. But I guess I don't have time for this.

#Inertia SSR doesn't work for some reasons for this project (I wasted hours because I tried to get it work) and I'm honestly sick of big JS frameworks.

Some day I will do this, but I honestly have no idea when it will come to it.
