Canada is in the middle of the largest measles outbreak it has seen in generations. A neat project: from Brazil, a tool to print a star map that folds into a dome! Written by a physics professor. Teachers use it to introduce children to the night sky.
It had _never_ occurred to me that, instead of simply reciting to students _yet again_ the old speech about how flat maps and flat star charts distort the sphere, you could just _fix the map_ instead and make it dome-shaped. Brilliant!
