My experience of the #fediverse :
Year 1 (2023):
It feels a little lonely as 99% of my friends stayed on Big Tech platforms.
Year 2 (2024):
I start a blog - #TheFutureIsFederated - to explain the fediverse to "normies"... and I make a lot of new (techie) friends.
Year 3 (2025):
My techie friends encourage me to start self-hosting with #YunoHost... and I do! (GoToSocial, PeerTube, NextCloud...) I LOVE it.
Year 4 (2026):
I plan to buy a Heltec to try out off-grid mesh radio communication 💁♀️
@Froogal it's a frustrating battle since even the people closest to me can't jump to open source or decentralized platforms. The main reason is cus all of their networks are there, be it personal or professional. Oh and how everything is monetized......... posts, reels, referrals... Although that's coming from a 3rd world country.
There must be another influence or incentive to sway a population to move. Based on my personal sways with friends, holding a personal seminar about data privacy isn't enough. They're glued!
It doesn't help since i'm always the one looking like I got the tinfoil hat.
Uhm just wondering is bluesky still worth trying? Oh and privacy wise, is the platform still the same as it promised to be..
A bit tempted to join the platform cus of reaching out with other artists who jumped from X and devianart. 
Gaming on Linux sucks because I can't see half of the screen.
(It's not Linux's fault but this chonkers. Game runs perfectly btw in case you're wondering.)
