Here there be dragons, language learning, autism, insomnia, too many letters of the LGBTQ+ alphabet soup, and chronic illness. You have been warned.

We're here, we're queer, hail to the freaks. 🤘

Learning Mandarin Chinese and Polish, occasionally dabbling in Cantonese.

Places you can currently find me:

- @lindwurmkai
- pillowfort.social/lindwurmkai for a mix of random musings, occasional language learning posts, personal updates, a little bit of fandom stuff here and there, and assorted reblogs
- lindwurmkai.tumblr.com for the full brunt of fandom stuff and typical tumblr nonsense

Also feel free to follow me on Duolingo I guess? I am not currently using the social features though because I used the "add yourself to a classroom" trick to get unlimited hearts and no ads. 😎✌ duolingo.com/profile/lindwurmkai

I'll pin this and update it if anything changes.

I think by now it's safe to say that Mastodon isn't working out for me. The mere existence of the local and federated timelines stresses me out because my posts always seem to attract Reply Guys™ exactly at the worst times but never when I have an actual question. I've also had random strangers boost my mundane life updates for no discernible reason (creepy) while my jokes and info posts largely went ignored.

Making all my posts private would not fix the problem. I do want attention *sometimes* and I've had much better luck interacting with people on Pillowfort, which is unfortunately not part of the Fediverse but more of a Tumblr alternative. I'm a big fan of the Fediverse in theory. Lately I've been exploring Bookwyrm because I finally got back into reading, and perhaps I'll eventually find more fedi projects that I enjoy.

The other big problem I've always had on here was that I just couldn't get my home timeline into a state where the ratio of posts that actually interested me to posts that didn't felt balanced. Pillowfort has communities, which work much better than hashtags for following entire topics instead of individuals, and it's easier to filter out stuff you don't want to see.

I guess I'll be on the lookout for fedi projects with similar features. Friendica sounded promising, but in the end it was too much like Facebook for me to stomach. If I do find something, I'll post about it here before eventually deleting.

Sorry for disappearing, idek why that happened
The person who invented "camp and chill" events in Merge Dragons: you know what this game needs? Obnoxious, echoing trumpet sounds. Our players are gonna love that
"The study found that the development of antibodies to COVID-19 was associated with the concurrent or subsequent development of the autoantibodies that are characteristically seen in type 1 diabetes. These autoantibodies—collectively referred to as “islet autoantibodies”—attack insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. Eventually the body cannot produce enough insulin, which results in blood glucose levels soaring to unhealthy and even dangerous levels."

Study adds to growing evidence of link between COVID-19 and Type 1 diabetes in children

The children in the study who developed SARS-CoV-2 antibodies had a risk of developing multiple islet autoantibodies that was a staggering 3.5 times higher than children who did not.

I hear so many older people saying things like "If I were younger, I would be nonbinary", and listen: you can be nonbinary now! It sounds like you already are! #nonbinary #LGBT #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA #transgender #trans

CHAMELEON MOON: The Audiobook Promo Signups!

Hello! I'm RoAnna Sylver, author of weird queer interactive fiction games like DAWNFALL and DATE THE LIZARD, and weird queer books like STAKE SAUCE and my first and probably best-known CHAMELEON MOON... Which is now getting its own super-badass audiobook! Yes, after a gobsmackingly successful Kickstarter campaign, I've teamed up with incredible narrator Kyle Rocco East to bring an enhanced audio experience to your ears (which means cool sound design, original music, including two full songs!). This is cool for several reasons, but accessibility is chief among them! I can't tell you how much audiobooks have saved my brain/reading life, and I want as many people to be able to enjoy this story as possible. In keeping with tradition, I'm planning a release of October 31st! Happy Halloween! If you'd like to listen early, I will send out eARCs to anyone who asks! You can help by: * Blurbing (a short nice testimonial phrase I can use in promo images/put on the book listing!) * Reviewing on GR/Amazon/Blogs/Anywhere else * Livetweeting/blogging as you listen to the thing HOWEVER, even if you know you won't be able to listen and/or review, there are still Tons of ways you can help, such as: * Blog features (Literally just copy/pasting/posting the promo stuff I will send out onto your blog/social media) * Having me do a blog guest post or interview, as myself OR in-character as someone from the book (I might not be able to do a whole bunch of these, but they are super fun) * Doing character art, aesthetics, or anything else to express your love! * SOMETHING ELSE, y'all are super creative and I'm sure I'm missing stuff, let me know Any of the above would be awesome! Thank you so, so much for being interested in this, and for loving my weird hopeful-dystopian superhero book! I hope your ears love it too! <3 - RoAnna P.S. - I promise not to share these emails with anyone else, or spam you with non-book things, OR add you to my mailing list if you said no to that! No worries.

Minor name change because I want to move away from using an English nickname, but for now it makes a decent fake last name
