📣 We're hiring at Open Science Tools! 📣
We're looking for a web developer (either full-stack or a back-end specialist, we're flexible).
We're a small, highly motivated team of scientists and developers, and we'd be great to work with, I swear!
Do you want to support scientists to run better studies and encourage open scientific practices? Are you passionate about building better software tools? You might be the software engineer we need! Come and join Open Science Tools in building applications for ethical, efficient, open science. We have flexibility to be looking for either a dedicated backend engineer, or a more general full-stack developer. Your Mission To help us maintain, optimise, and expand the infrastructure supporting Pavlovia, https://pavlovia.org, a popular online science platformFor full stack: also to develop cutting-edge desktop JavaScript applications to support scientists and medics in lab-based environments You will have a critical role in advancing the state-of-the-art in behavioural science software, alongside our highly experienced team of developers and scientists. Do you think you can do that? Whats your reward? Flexible working conditions with intelligent colleagues. Open Science Tools are a small team but a nice bunch to work with, if we do say so ourselves!Making a difference. Wouldn't you rather help scientists instead of helping the shareholders of mega-corporations?Varied work. We are a small company so theres less specialisation than most. You would be chipping in on a wide range of tasks, wherever you have the skills to help! What should you bring to the table? You should have a background in Computer Science, or related field, or a proven track record with work experience in a relevant technical role. Proven technical skills and experience in some parts of our tech stack (see below) are useful, but the desire to push the envelope, and an interest in open-source software and scientific progress, are equally important. Tech stack: Linux servers, including data securityBack-end tools: GitLab, MongoDB, PythonFront-end tools: Angular, SvelteKit, Electron To reiterate, we have some flexibility around whether the candidate has more skills purely in back-end engineering versus full-stack development. Details This is a full-time, permanent position, preferably with hybrid working based in Nottingham, UK but part-time options will also be considered. The gross salary will be up to £60k p.a. dependent on experience. At Open Science Tools we believe in a diverse workforce to match our diverse users. We are particularly keen to see applications from candidates typically underrepresented in software development and scientific fields. Please send your enquiries to: [email protected]
