Question for #blind #linux users. Is there a way to make the TTY login screen acessible via text to speech somehow? I think I can get Orca running once I log in but it's hard to know when I can enter my login creds and if it succeeded. ๐Ÿฅฒ
One benefit of the DST change is my cat has been thrown off her schedule, so instead of her waking me a 7 am sharp, yowling for food, it's me turning the tables on her

Did AI kill 175 schoolchildren, aged 6 to 12, with a double-tap precision-guided missile strike?

No, AI didn't commit this war crime. Donald Trump did. Pete Hegseth did.

"The people in charge donโ€™t seem to be pondering this, as itโ€™s all a game to them. You can hear it in the despicable language of the lacquered and grotesque Hegseth and his middle-school braggadocio about โ€˜warfightingโ€™ and โ€˜the warrior ethos.โ€™โ€

AI error or not, Iran school bombing is a permanent stain on Americaโ€™s soul

A debate on AI in warfare obscures the truth about an Iran school bombing. U.S. humans are to blame for this war crime.

The 2025 GDAL User Survey (https://gdal.org/survey/) is now active for the entire month of December! Tell the project how you use it, where you get help, what it should do in the future, and how/if it should use LLMs going forward. If you (optionally) give us your email, we'll even enter you to win a GDAL t-shirt!
2025 GDAL User Survey

In 2024, the GDAL User Survey solicited feedback to help focus GDAL Sponsorship Program activities. Your contribution mattered. Last years' results triggered the project to embark on the GDAL CLI Modernization effort which the project released this year in GDAL 3.11 and 3.12. This year's survey provides guidance for steering deployment of sponsorship resources by echoing 2024's while focusing on topics such as LLM usage, security remediation, fundraising, and more. Thank you again for your valuable time and feedback. Please help us be more effective by circulating the survey through your social media and networks. This survey will close on December 31st, 2025. โ€“ Howard Butler, GDAL Sponsorship Program Lead
