Listening to David Bowie's "Heroes" and realising its distorted soundscape might be a progenitor of shoegaze. With the bar's background noise, I initially mistook it for something from the Lost in Translation soundtrack (which features MBV's Kevin Shields and The Jesus and Mary Chain).
