I'm asking my followers to please add a follow to me on @ptec3d as I'll be slowly transferring my activity and eventually this account, to there. Mainly because I am an Aussie so it makes sense from the point of view of people being able to figure out one's origins.

I can not stress enough how valuable and important it is to learn how to maintain and repair the things you own.

Not just cars, but washing machines, dryers, air conditioning, boiler, phones, computers, clothing, etc.

Obviously with electrical, gas and plumbing, learn it properly if you can through a course.

Regardless of how you learn, you'll gain the skills to keep things going that bit longer before you need a replacement.

The Spinoff

Today's The Detail #podcast on RNZ had a bit of misinformation which, as a cyclist commuter, is a pet peeve.

Talking about road damage and how to pay for its repairs, the guest claimed that pedestrians and cyclists "Do not pay their way" as road users.

This is incorrect and harmful because

1. We pay rates, like everyone else.
2. We produce almost 0 wear and tear. .

So we actually disproportionately pay for roads we do not damage. And being seen as "freeloaders" endangers us to angry drivers.
