Just migrated my RPi OS from an SD Card to an old 1TB HDD that’s 4x over its SMART failure thresholds (and I still trust it more than an SD Card) #reduce #reuse #recycle

Just returning from #volunteering at our local Repair Cafe. For $REASONS, they didn't have one in January or February, so I was kind of missing it.

Good turnout, though there weren't many who booked a slot in advance - just a lot of walk-ins. Everyone got seen. I worked on the usual small appliances, had a peek at a sewing machine, and oddly enough, a shoe/boot. Now I'm a cobbler, apparently?

Helping people feels good. Saving stuff from the landfill feels good. Saving money for people who can't really afford repairs and definitely can't just buy a new $SOMETHING feels good. If you enjoy fixing things - from sewing/garment repair to bicycles to computers to anything else - maybe look for a Repair Cafe in your city. I'm sure they'd love your help.

But I haven't been in the middle of that much people noise in months - maybe years. Decompressing...

#Fish are #adapting to #hotter #temperatures in ways that are problematic for people. They are getting #smaller and #dying at higher rates as they #adapt to warming waters, researchers warn in a report released Thursday in the journal Science. This evolutionary change will #reduce #global fish #yields by one-fifth under current warming predictions, and up to 30 percent in high-emissions scenarios.
