@letterformarchive This alphabet by #WADwiggins was repeatedly turned into a typeface. We are aware of
• Fast Lady D by Lettergraphics, 1970s
• Dwiggins Deco by Matt Desmond, MADType, 2009
• Dwiggins Initials KK by John Wollring, Koeiekat, 2012.

Dwiggins Deco in use

Collective entry for adaptations of an unnamed alphabet originally designed in 1930 by W.A. Dwiggins for the cover for Paul Hollister’s book American Alphabets. Lettergraphics had a film type version named Fast Lady D [Lettergraphics 1976]. Matt Desmond expanded Dwiggins’ alphabet into a full typeface as Dwiggins Deco (2009, used for sample). John Wollring made another interpretation named Dwiggins Initials KK (2012).

Fonts in Use

New fonts: Martina Plantijn.

Martina Plantijn is a better Plantin. Informed by the workhorse qualities of Frank Hinman Pierpont’s typeface and expanding upon his research of 16th century type at the Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp, Martina Plantijn makes decisive digital updates across its roman and italic cuts.
