The "No" vote is reportedly polling better because Dutton and co are peddling that the govt is obsessed with the Voice instead of "fixing" the higher cost of living.

In fact this cost of living pain is largely caused by Dutton's corporate mates profiteering, and by his party's energy failings over past 10 years resulting in today's energy price-gouging.

So it's a win-win for Dutton and friends but a huge loss-loss for the country.

@geordie I've been told it was phrased as "maxed out"what they could refund in a day. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Peter Dutton is such a bullshit artist!

How is Peter Dutton going to hold a second referendum? Only the PM can do that. Dutton is not the PM, won't be PM any time soon, and is unlikely to ever be PM.
He's trying to convince people the Voice referendum is low-stakes and he can give us a do-over if the "Yes" vote doesn't get up. What a load of shit. This is flagrant bullshit.

Dutton is importing MAGA-style tactics: "Flood the zone with shit". He lies and he lies and he lies. He's trying to deliberately exhaust us with a deluge of misinformation to the point where we can't tell truth from lies, nothing means anything, people are rendered incapable of caring, and then slip into nihilism. He dreams of being an autocrat without anyone able to challenge him.

What I'm finding interesting in the #AI #AIhype gestalt at the moment is the yoking of AI use cases to increased productivity, creating the promise that AI "unlocks" benefits - productivity, capital, labour, time - that are somehow latent and present - but unattainable - without AI.

Take for example the push by developers in #NSW, #Australia, urging councils to use #AI for more rapid #planning approval, positing that AI tools can help in the design process so that plans submitted to councils are more "approvable".

I'm not sure if I agree with this framing. Could AI tools unlock all these benefits? Possibly. But whose interests do they serve? The developers'? The councils'? The communities affected by the planning applications?

He who builds the model shapes how, where, and why it is used.

What I expect to see next is "partnerships" where people with a vested interest in automating / AI-fying a process co-fund its build. Will developers build the AI tools used by councils?

Are we seeing the rise of #AIcapture in a similar vein to #RegulatoryCapture

NSW Planning minister told 'zero' chance of addressing housing crisis, urged to adopt AI technology

Experts say AI tools could help NSW to battle the mounting pressure on supplying housing, at a time when the state is forecast to be 134,000 dwellings short of the population-based target.

Apparently Melbourne Airport parking changed its system to require customers to use an e-mailed QR code, but didn't make it clear. They had to refund so many customers that they ran out of immediate money to do so, and still have refunds to honour, with more coming in. #enshitification

This article argues with rises of influencers on Instagram and short form video on TikTok, the bar for what is good content has kept going up and many users have dropped the SOCIAL from social media and now treat it as MEDIA.

People are still social online but it’s now more likely they are DMing to talk about what they saw in their feeds instead of posting to their feeds.

One could argue Threads is necessary to bring social back to the Instagram generation. https://www.businessinsider.com/social-media-dead-instagram-tiktok-bereal-replaced-group-chats-messaging-2023-8?op=1

Social media decline: Ending for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok

Social media is on the decline. Instagram is all ads. No one's posting on BeReal. TikTok is for influencers. The new place for sharing: group chats.

Hi! Lady Forlorn hasn't been well for a little while, nothing serious, but it keeps her away from posting. She suggested that I take over the handling of her Mastodon account because she thinks I would enjoy it more than Threads, and we'll run it together for a while. So you'll still get the unhinged ravings via Forlorn, but now with added servings of bonkers from me, Christopher David (postanthropocene). I'll probably be cross posting a bit until I get the hang of things, but, depending on how it goes, this could be my forever home.
My best friend is leaving Australia to live in Greece, but we get to keep Jeff Kennett, and Donald Trump Jr is coming here. It's 12.35 and I can't be bothered to get out of bed. I'm having a mental health bed day, but I heard the cat coughing up a furrball earlier that has to be dealt with, and the car needs a new power steering pump, and I still have no foreseeable way of getting my eyes fixed in a way that won't bankrupt me. Had to take my mother in law to hospital two nights ago with suspected heart attack ... it wasn't ... She was there for 6 hours, eventually a nurse came out and said the wait was going to be 6 hours because emergency was at capacity and please consider another hospital. Anyway, my best friend is going to Greece because real estate is cheaper there and she's already bought a nice place, and will be working remotely for an Australian company, and she wants all of us to follow her there, and if it wasn't for my medical issues, and the fact that Brexit means I know longer have the right to live in Greece, I'd be giving Melbourne the middle finger and fucking off. That's the kind of mood I am in today.
Microwave's on the blink, popped and took out the power in a third of the house. But the cat is sleeping in the loungeroom and snoring happily, like he just doesn't care. Little fluffy psychopath.

The great thing about the Liberal Party is, when right wing American men read us complaining about "The Liberals," they think we mean the left, and get sucked in just long enough to make it funny when they realise that, in fact, we think they are cruel immature dumb dumbs with unkempt neck beards.

Don't like my run-on sentences? Well, join the club with my second year English professor, because you'll have just as much luck stopping me as she did. My sentences are out of control, and so am I.
