We have started a project to re-encode all the past conferences that are no longer operating.
Generally we just focus on updates, but over time as more cons stop operating we are leaving bhind those in he older video format (HEVC) for the newer, streamable, AV1
As we re-encode the older cons we also generate English captions and embed them into the video files.
This project should take over 6 months of “spare” time, hopefully complete by #DefCon 34!

You'll find no shortage of advice telling aspiring cybersecurity professionals to learn how to program—usually in Python. I humbly submit another language may serve you even better:
SQL.
Learning how relational data is queried, aggregated, and presented will translate to any number of processes.
Remember that time when during a flight, rather than surfing phones and all such digital things, people sometimes chatted?
It seems like such a rare commodity lately.
I’m guilty of this too… working or back to binge listening/watching something, the occasional read. All these things, plugged in.
I’ve had conversations with aspiring marine biologists, OG Bell Labs scientists, once in a while other cyber or IT nerds, countless business owners and professionals, even some folks whose prevailing identity was their religious affiliation. All really interesting conversations. Maybe that sort of thing keeps one in touch with the world…
In some ways, I miss it.
I'm Closing shop for a few days for DEF CON after 7pm PT tonight at the https://www.missjackalope.store! I'll have a shop at the DEF CON vendor Arts and Entertainment area on Friday where you can pick up legendary merch! <3
