After 40+ years in this (IT/computer) industry, and simultaneously being an mechanical and electrical vehicle engineer I have concluded the largest problem the computer industry has suffered from (unlike the older engineering disciplines) is a willingness and acceptance of never bothering to learn what has already been done. Consequently the computer industry (in particular business and corporations) lives on reinventing that which has already been (in most case) solved.
Of the billionaires, by the billionaires, for the billionaires, aren't we luck here in the USA now.

Those that have only known the PC based interface and web browser based applications perhaps wouldn’t realize just how fast one could work on a ‘green screen’ terminal. Moving from one ticket to another was near instantaneous and with terminal multiplexers you could just hop from one application to another and back again. Other than the pretty look I now have. I really find myself less productive than I was 20 or 30 years ago.
I was working on tickets via JIRA and opening a ticket or moving from one ticket to another I realize just how incredibly slow things are these days.
I take consolation in the belief that Margret Thatcher and her toy boy Regan are enjoying retirement in hell for all eternity.
