I'm Devin, previously devinprater@tweesecake.social. I'm back, trying to take everything less seriously. I love relaxing, reading, eating, chatting, and learning about technology.
@Mayowa @mckensie It's based on Tusky I think.
The what's new in VoiceOver section is back in beta 2, and if you want to read it without the hassle of installing iOS 26 betas, you may check it out at https://nidza07.github.io/iOS26/VONews
Note: I'm linking to my own page only because Apple doesn't seem to be providing these what's new pages anywhere on their site, if somebody knows an official source for them, I'll gladly edit my post.

A US judge rules Anthropic use of copyrighted books to train AI was fair use, but its storage of pirated books in a "central library" used for training was not (Olivia Sophie Rafferty/ai fray)

@pixelate Ha, the moment the news cares about accessibility is the day where the whole human race becomes blind.

#AudioMo day23:

Did you know that there is hidden morse code all throughout Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells' album?

Somehow, probably during the two-track mix-down stage of the album, the CW from a powerful, very low frequency transmitter about 37 miles north of the studio in which this album was recorded found it's way to tape. It's centered at 16 kHz, and so low in the mix that you can't actually hear it... at least, not without some help.

This is a very short, not particularly comprehensive demo using two different methods -- a pair of stock Reaper plugins and an SDR package to mostly isolate this morse transmission, which is heard throughout the entire album.

My Mastodon profile is public so that I don't have to approve anyone who follows me. However, I see a request to follow from a user. I wonder why that would be?
The reason why IAAP does not certify books and podcasts is because they cannot easily verify that you have read or listened them while online courses give out “certificates”. I understand that. But consider most IAAP CAEC stuff has to be outside of working hours, it feels unfair to remove two non-screen activities from the board outright. 🤷‍♂️

If only tech news cared as much about accessibility as they do the iPhone 17 Air's resolution. Lol. I bet the innards of VoiceOver and TalkBack have plenty of secrets, comments about how much working around of broken frameworks devs really have to do, and of course, the stubs for new features.

All the organs of the body were having a meeting, trying to decide who should be in charge.
"I should be in charge," said the brain, "because I run all the body's systems. Without me, nothing would happen."
"I should be in charge," said the blood, "because I circulate oxygen all over. Without me, you'd all waste away."
"I should be in charge," said the stomach, "because I process food and give all of you energy."
"I should be in charge," said the legs, "because I carry the body wherever it needs to go.""I should be in charge," said the eyes, "because I allow the body to see where it goes."
"I should be in charge," said the rectum, "because I’m responsible for waste removal."
All the other body parts laughed at the rectum and insulted him. In a huff, he shut down tight.
Within a few days, the brain had a terrible headache, the stomach was bloated, the legs got wobbly, the eyes got watery, and the blood became toxic.
They all finally decided that the rectum should be the boss.

Moral of the story: Even though the others do all the hard work, the ass hole is usually the one in charge.

It's 94 degrees F right now. I'm going nowhere near outside.
