I'm a musician, tech-enthusiast, & also enjoy good people & good food. Nature, reading, meditation/spiritual growth, cooking, laughing, & savoring life & the connections I have with others are among those things I hold dear. Started playing the piano at age 3 & vocal later (harp even later). Computers came along at age 6; went from Apple, to DOS, to Windows, around to Linux, & back to Apple (primarily). Love checking out all tech (access tech, too).
Oh, what a neat thing with which to play, courtesy of @freakyfwoof! – https://onj.me/nc/
NVDA Composer Web

Okay. So this post should make @FreakyFwoof and @batworx either very happy, very pissed, or something. They should at least be amused.
Early this morning I decided to give Claude a crack at figuring out what was wrong with an Apple II program from 1978. The program is called Appleodion, and the file I sent Claude plays three Bach fugues. Part of the third fugue is corrupted. Amazingly, Claude was able to deduce the entirely undocumented (except in the Integer BASIC composer program which I hadn't yet sent it) format of the music data. It correctly identified the problem and recovered what it could.
Then I got to thinking it'd be cool to be able to convert between Appleodion and MIDI. So I sent it the BASIC source code for the composer program, and it wrote a few scripts for me. There are a few things wrong, but it basically works.
I took the #NVDAComposer version of "Bouncing Round the Classroom" and converted it to Appleodion music data. Before you play this, please be aware that the whole thing is just a bit flat (this program from 1978 isn't exactly concert pitch!) and a few notes are wrong, most noticeably with the highest notes. This ancient program has an approx. four-octave range, so any notes outside of this range are clamped to the nearest allowable note. Also the tempo is much, much slower than it should be. But for a program from 1978 to be able to play this song at all is something else. So, here we go with…Calmly Walking Around the Classroom? You decide.

#ArtFelt will have to wait until next week.

It is phenomenally gorgeous outside! Unfortunately, this means no #ArtFelt tonight. I have a lovely back yard I haven't been able to enjoy all winter. On this warm, sunny day, I'm busy taking it all in! If you'd like, I invite you to visit the ArtFelt archives at https://www.mixcloud.com/artfeltlive. Thank you, and I'll be back next week (weather permitting?). 🤣

Good St Patrick's Day evening, my friends! It is always a pleasure for me to delve into the melodies and Irish musical ornamentation we find in this genre. We’ll be hearing plenty of that tonight, along with my usual live performing and conversation. I hope all of you are having a great week and I look forward to having you with me!

Not my joke but I thought it was good:

- What do you call someone rapping under water?
- Eminemo.

BrailleNote Evolve impressions: very, very nice. Incredibly light-weight, very fast, built pretty well, and it is a very rare type of notetaker that doesn't become e-waste as soon as you laeve education, because it runs regular Office apps and Windows 11 Pro. The BrailleSense 7 also seems like a pretty nice device, although I do miss the mini form factor, they've yet to do that for the 20, and running Android still means that your bespoke software and hardware will be utterly worthless outside of education. Selvas has a much better record of keeping their devices updated, though, so pros and cons.
