I own a pickup truck and a drill press. I have a right to own them, I think.
There's nothing in the Constitution about pickup trucks or drill presses.
I also own a rifle.
Nobody wants to take away my drill press or my rifle.
I just don't think a pickup truck, a drill press, or a rifle require a Constitutional Amendment.
The truck requires me to periodically demonstrate my ability to be a responsible owner/driver and that seems very reasonable. A rifle should require something similar and even more stringent and yet it doesn't.
The Constitutional Amendment relaxes the requirement for responsibility for firearm ownership. That's just wrong.
The main argument I hear for retaining the gun ownership Constitutional Amendment is that firearms are needed to combat government tyranny.
And yet here we are daily witnessing the single most obvious tyrannical activity: masked, unbadged, armed men are attacking civilians in American cities.
Where are the men with Constitutionally protected firearms? Why are they not fighting tyranny with their rifles?
