In darkness kindled and undearth be known,
From below the land of ice and stone,
Through the blizzard and craggy rock,
Before the Dawn's herald by cock.

A journey long and perilous to take,

Today the Ukrainian Defense Ministry tweeted a series of photographs depicting Ukrainian volunteers as witches. That's an interesting choice, considering that one of the dehumanization strategies of Russian propaganda broadcasts has been to depict the Ukrainians as "Satanists" who are conducting "Pagan sacrifice" on the battlefield by crucifying Russian soldiers in parodic blasphemy. Esoteric receptions in war are always fascinating.

The Defense Ministry's tweet reads, "Render unto God that which belongs to God and unto the enemy that which is of the enemy. Beware, enemy - you'll get what the witch wants. 🇺🇦 volunteers dressed as witches, sending love to our soldiers and the…opposite…to our enemy.
