I cut paper to pieces and paste them together.
I'm making scale models out of (mostly) paper and post (mostly) daily pics.

@reiver @snott I can export them (and they are on ex-Twitter and I also have all the source photos), but I don't think there is a way to import historical posts (IIUC, for authenticity reasons and perhaps it would make federation harder).
I could repost them, but that would be a mess+boring for people who already saw them, so I'm planning to post new pictures only and add older photos to that online gallery once it's up and running.
@snott I've been thinking about getting my own instance, but ultimately decided to give mastodon.social a try. If I don't like it and decide to move to my own domain, I'll go with a fully managed instance.
I know how to set up and run a server and I already have a domain (I need to move the gallery of finished models off ex-Twitter so that I can edit it without paying Elon). But I also know that I'd rather spend the time building models and let someone else take care of the server.
I agree that having more servers is better. At the same time, running a server takes time and costs money. For plamo.social, most of it went out of @sprngr 's pocket and free time. If something, I appreciate that he stuck to it for so long and fully respect his decision to not do it anymore.
When looking for a new server, I looked for one that will stay around and that seems more likely for the bigger ones with clear funding...
