I've found in Instagram the process of writing a research paper, which resembles the material from the second lecture on BPM course. The chart may appear non-linear, but in fact there are several processes - thesis title creation, thesis statement, and the overall writing of the paper. Indeed, term paper/thesis preparation is a project work, but it's process repeats from year to year (while we are students or researchers).
I searched for the first use of the term "BPM", it turned out that Davenport (1990) used it in his article "The New Industrial Engineering: Information Technology and Business Process Redesign". The concept of ERP was coined by Gartner company during the same period of the early 1990s. Indeed, this decade was so revolutionary in the use of technology and processes. Previously, using programmes such as Excel seemed like a competitive advantage for SMEs, but now we have incredible range of apps!
