@ASlavitt Yes.

However, it's up to the users to exercise the choices and what they will tolerate from the either the social media companies or the networks they are on.

Since I've been lurking on Mastodon for about a week or so, maybe an #introduction is in order.

I work in education and have a wide variety of interests from sports to politics.

I'm one of the many Twitter refugees and I'm finding that I don't miss that platform as nearly as much as I thought.

Hope to meet others here, but I've been glad to find those journalists that I liked reading over there.

May the holiday season be good to everyone.

@briankrebs Which is the best reason for people to have different passwords for different things.

I'm glad these people were caught.

@acosta 🙁
@ASlavitt Magic 8 ball worked for me. 😃
@KFile Hi Andrew. Glad you're here. I plan on not using Twitter again so I'm glad I can read your stuff here.
if you are at all able (or able to learn), i highly recommend:
• creating your own website
• on your own domain
• acquiring copies of your data that you care about that's on third party sites (particularly twitter)

@[email protected] The problem is that the forwarding address (i.e. Mastodon) is blocked.

Not that I had a huge following anyway...

*Sheepish request* I'm new to Mastodon, but a lot of my former Twitter followers don't know I'm here yet. Someone suggested I could simply ask you fine people to boost me. Would you be so kind? (I promise to post a photo of my dog to say thanks). #WelcomeToMastodon

@lolgop Hi, easy decision to do so.

Still haven't deactivated my Twitter account yet. But probably will soon.
