Have you ever experienced that feeling, where you feel like the desktop gets in your way, or is too distracting? Go minimalist with a tiling DE like i3. I did it, and I now question why, I never tried something like years ago. 😎 This is not a knock against other DEs, cause I really like Budgie, Gnome, and Plasma. But, there is something about i3 that is just better in some ways.
@oswriter I converted my dad from windows 10 to GNU/Linux because of all the problems he had using it, and made 2 cousins start using GNU/Linux as their first computer operating system on the laptops i got them.
@oswriter Maybe. My father's side of the family converted quickly. They just want to use their computer and be done with the heavy maintenance that Windows or Mac entailed. A few BBQs and party events with Linux on my main machine, HTPC, laptop and they coverted pretty fast. I keep them all on LTS distros. My lady and kids also use Linux and I think when ppl see them using it that also helps.

I had a chance to try the new #Solus Budgie testing ISO last night. As a non-Budgie user, I was impressed with the changes @ikey & the team have made.

Indeed, every time I use Solus Budgie I think, "This is what Ubuntu could have been had Canonical not gone down the 'convergence' rabbit hole." Alas, that's what what happens when marketing and branding concerns dictate your decision-making process.

Happy Ikey Liberation Day, everyone! #Solus
I have to say, the most destructive thing about #Linux is 'distro hopping.' I did it for awhile and, looking back, it was a colossal waste of time. I'm much more productive now that I picked a distro (#Solus) and stuck with it.
In my personal ranking of outrages, #DRM ranks pretty low. In fact, DRM doesn't really upset me at all. And I find a lot of the bellyaching from some corners of the #Linux community silly and childish.
today at work we are having a discussion titled "trees we hate"
@nexx @oswriter I run Xfce because it's dependable and doesn't change much. We certainly don't have to worry about them removing features or breaking them since there isn't much of an update cycle. Pantheon is nice, I think, if you come from Apple. So it has a place at the table. I'd rather Apple users switch to Pantheon than stay on the dark side. One of the neat aspects of Linux is that there's something for just about everyone.
