Lawrence OttHave you ever experienced that feeling, where you feel like the desktop gets in your way, or is too distracting? Go minimalist with a tiling DE like i3. I did it, and I now question why, I never tried something like years ago. 😎 This is not a knock against other DEs, cause I really like Budgie, Gnome, and Plasma. But, there is something about i3 that is just better in some ways.
DistroJunkie@AvnSgt I agree but it's probably more if a "power user" feature. Your avg user coming from windows probably needs a DE to get by. I like to keep it simple. The microwatt distro comes with I3 and no DE if you're interested.
@DistroJunkie Certainly there is a learning curve to i3, and anyone who just migrates from Windows to a Linux Distro, likely won't, have the knowledge or skills to use such an environment. But, for me, I have been using Linux since 2002, but for the longest time, I have overlooked this DE, that happens to be really great to use.
